  • Spring 2012 - Flex Term 1

    CJUS 4374-01-114F - Advanced Criminological Theory
    Dr. George Day

    This course builds upon the basic criminology course by taking more in-depth look at specific theoretical explanations of criminal behavior focusing on modern theoretical constructs including Feminist Theory, Critical Criminology, Biosocial theories and integrated theories. In addition, students will examine theoretical explanations behind specific crime types including both violent and property offenses as well as corporate crime.

    CJUS 3313-01-114F - Drugs and Drug Policy / Dr. Robert Benefield

    An examination of the physiological, psychological, and behavioral effects of legal and illicit drugs; patterns and correlates of use; and theories of the causes of drug use. The course also provides a cross-national perspective on the regulation of drug use by examining and critiquing drug policies in terms of their goals, scope, and effectiveness.


    Spring 2012 – Flex Term II


    CJUS 3371-02-115F- Probation and Parole
    Mr. Bill Gollmitzer

    This course develops the history, philosophy and progress of adult and juvenile probation and parole in the United States. This course also examines the practices and association of probation and parole agencies with the judicial system.

    CJUS 4376-02-115F- Organized Crime
    Dr. George Day

    This course will provide students with a historical and theoretical overview of organized crime. Students will gain an understanding of the structure of organized crime as well as an understanding of the businesses associated with traditional and nontraditional organized crime groups. The course will also provide students with a detailed analysis of state and federal laws and policies regarding organized crime.
